Pasar Saham Indonesia Terbaik Dua Minggu Berturut-turut

Walaupun dalam seminggu terakhir mengalami fluktuasi, indeks saham gabungan di Bursa Efek Indonesia menunjukkan kinerja terbaik di dunia. Per 24 Februari 2016 (year-to-date), indeks saham Indonesia mengalami pertumbuhan 4,2 persen dalam US dollar terms. Kali ini Indonesia ditemani Thailand pada posisi teratas. Minggu lalu, Indonesia juga menduduki posisi teratas, dengan kenaikan indeks 5,9 persen, sedangkan Thailand di posisi kedua..

Dalam rupiah (local currency) indeks saham Indonesia hanya naik 1,4 persen. Penguatan rupiah dari Rp 13.504 per dollar AS pada 17 Februari menjadi Rp 13,416  per dollar AS turut membantu kinerja indeks saham dalam US dollar terms.

Emerging markets secara keseluruhan berdasarkan MSCI (Morgan Stanley Capital International) masih mengalami tekanan (minus 7,3 persen), namun lebih baik ketimbang hampir semua negara maju, termasuk indeks saham Euro area (FTSE Euro 100) yang turun 11,7 persen.

Jika kestabilan makroekonomi kian membaik dan nilai tukar rupiah lambat laun menguat, ada harapan indeks saham Indonesia bisa mencetak rekor baru tahun ini. Rekor tertinggi terakhir tercatat pada aras 5.514,787 yang terjadi pada 6 Maret 2015. Kemarin (25 Februari), indeks bertengger di aras 4.658,323.

Faisal Basri is currently senior lecturer at the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia and Chief of Advisory Board of Indonesia Research & Strategic Analysis (IRSA). His area of expertise and discipline covers Economics, Political Economy, and Economic Development. His prior engagement includes Economic Adviser to the President of Republic of Indonesia on economic affairs (2000); Head of the Department of Economics and Development Studies, Faculty of Economics at the University of Indonesia (1995-98); and Director of Institute for Economic and Social Research at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Indonesia (1993-1995), the Commissioner of the Supervisory Commission for Business Competition (2000-2006); Rector, Perbanas Business School (1999-2003). He was the founder of the National Mandate Party where he was served in the Party as the first Secretary General and then the Deputy Chairman responsible for research and development. He quit the Party in January 2001. He has actively been involved in several NGOs, among others is The Indonesian Movement. Faisal Basri was educated at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Indonesia where he received his BA in 1985 and graduated with an MA in economics from Vanderbilt University, USA, in 1988.
