Burung pipit itu tak kuasa lagi menahan diam
Di tengah gemuruh kicau memekakkan telinga
Ia menepi seraya menatap ke langit
Awan pekat bergulung-gulung
Air mata tertahan di kelopak
Tak kuasa lagi melontarkan amarah
Senyumnya tak lagi menyembul
Tak ada lagi senda gurau
Hari penantian segera tiba
Mempertaruhkan masa depan habitatnya
Dari serangan sekawanan elang hitam kelam penuh dahaga
Mereka berkedok paras garuda
Meniru kicauan murai batu
Berperangai jinak-jinak merpati
Sang pipit tetap eling
Kesadaran nuraninya memperteguh sikap
Akal sehatnya menjadi perisai
Di ujung penat tak terperikan
Hati hati yang beku
Cair satu satu
Ia pilih titian
Yang lebih menjanjikan harapan
